It is always great to have a campfire cook up. Breakfast, lunch or dinner always taste better with friends around the camp fire. This is a social weekend where you can relax and breathe in the fresh air, (unless you are the one the campfire smoke always follows).
Brooklyn has a long history with the TLCCQLD and anyone who has visited knows this is a great place to relax and unwind.
We will collect wood for the fire Saturday morning to make sure we have plenty of coals for cooking in the afternoon and the usual Brooklyn Camp Fire after dinner. Bring a bag of firewood for the Friday night.
If you have never cooked around the fire before, don’t worry. This is a great opportunity to experiment or learn. Camp ovens, Biji, Braai, Potjie or a frypan, let’s share our favourite foods with friends. I plan to have the campfire going all day Saturday, so boil the Billy for you morning cuppa, toast your sandwich of jaffle for lunch or just chill out until dinner cook up.
As this is a social weekend with no planned drives on the property, you are welcome to bring along a friend in their own vehicle. They do not need to be a member (number of guests cannot out number members). Non Members are only allowed to drive on the main track to the campground.
The plan is to have a communal dinner on the Saturday night for anyone who wants to share their cooking. If you have dietary requirements, let’s have a chat so you can still join in. We might even cook some deserts on the fire.
No camp oven? No problem. Some of us have some spare cooking gear so just ask. Let’s make this another fun social weekend around a winter camp fire.
If you are attending the Vehicular orienteering on the following weekend, you can leave your camper/caravan at the property.
