CLASSIC Day Drive Nerang

Apr 30 2022 @ 9:00 am 3:00 pm

This one is open for everyone BUT  if you have a 4WD which is greater than 30 years old………  TODAY is the day to come along for a great day out! We shall be driving the tracks of Nerang State Forest – a beautiful gated area which we can access as part of the Adopt a Track program and with permissions through 4WD Qld and QPWS. We will aim to travel along as many tracks as we can – dependent on vehicle numbers we will aim to form 2-3 convoys so that all can enjoy the day.  Convoys will meet at designated areas in the park for group morning tea and lunch and we shall join up again to ‘wet our whistles’ at a local ‘watering hole’ after the trip. Photos will be essential throughout the day. Vehicle recovery points will be discussed and planned at the commencement of this trip – understanding that many older vehicles will have modified or alternate recovery points compared to modern day vehicles! Your vehicle must be a 4WD, you will need recovery equipment suited to your vehicle available on the day.  Please bring the spares/equipment you feel you will need for your vehicle.  Please also ensure you have a fire extinguisher secured in your vehicle – as classic vehicles are not driven as often – it is important to consider the potential risks of fire/breakdown. Vehicle Insurance is at your own undertaking.  Current vehicle registration with Department of Transport is essential – full registration/classic registration accepted. What else to bring:  a smile is essential!  chair, study footwear, gloves, basic track clearing equipment (as this is Nerang – there is always the consideration of fallen trees/limbs/lantana overhanging the tracks) Laminated maps of Nerang will be available on the day – please bring a whiteboard marker if you or your passenger would like to mark the tracks as we go along. Do you have a friend with a classic 4WD vehicle and they would like to attend?  Please contact the trip co-ordinator Julie Bowdery  Phone 0466 542 275 or email [email protected] to discuss.  Noting it would be good if your ‘friend’ could attend a New Members Day as a visitor to be understanding of our club procedures for trips – as this trip is rated as Medium – Difficult – a hill stall procedure competency is required. Meet time will be 9am for 9.30am departure Meet point at entry to Nerang – Corner Yarranyne Road and Mylor Road Nerang (Nerang State Forest gated entry) Trip Leader: Julie Bowdery POWERPOINT
