Oct 10 All day
A joint initiative with 4WD QLD, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS)
and Toyota Landcruiser Club (QLD) Inc.
8am meet for 8.30am departure
Meet at entry to Nerang State Forest
– Corner Yarrayne Road and Mylor Road Nerang (Nerang State Forest gated entry)
What is “Adopt a Track”?
It’s an opportunity for 4WD Qld Affiliated Clubs to support QPWS in bushcare and track management within state and national parks
Permission is provided to us to access tracks which may not be accessible to the general public
We help with track clearing, lantana reduction is quite a heavy task we tend to in Nerang
The tracks in Nerang are easy to moderate dependent on recent rainfall in the area
What to bring:
– Hat, sunscreen, gloves, sturdy closed in shoes
Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea
Plenty of drinking water
NOTE Nerang does not have any facilities
– BYO toilet paper and shovel!!
Track clearing equipment in case we need to clear a fallen tree – drag chain, chainsaw (if qualified) axe, PPE
Vehicle requirements – full tank fuel, recovery gear, tracks are shale, we will air down once we enter the park
Track rating – moderate
Nerang National Park and Nerang State Forest are on Nerang’s north-west outskirts,
12 km from Surfers Paradise and 70 km south of Brisbane
Dry rainforest and open eucalypt forests of grey gum, blue gum, stringybark and tallowwood grow in the hilly reserve, while sections of remnant gallery rainforest thrive in the gullies.
Adopted areas: lantana hill, creek bed – lantana, Fire access trail – weed management
Further details will be emailed out 1-2 weeks prior to the trip.
